The XVI century, a period of great splendor, called the “Golden Age,” begins with the alliance that the Republic of Genoa stipulates with Spain.
The magnificence of the mansions built during this period, cought the attention of Rubens who arrived in Genoa with The Gonzagas, dukes of Mantua. 

A journey through where some of these buildings are located, buildings which were part of the “Rolli System”, splendid residences of the wealthier families used to accommodate important State guests on official visits to the city. 

“Palazzi dei Rolli” constitute a unique testimony to the wealth and splendor attained by the Republic of Genoa.
